Verify Magazine - Elegance Meets Support In This New Swimwear Line

Eleanor-7

Like most women, when the weather warms up, I start looking around for a new suit. I always struggle to find that classic swimsuit that’s sophisticated, well-crafted, and makes me feel super confident in my body. Much like finding that perfect pair of jeans or shade of red lipstick, finding that perfect swimsuit has its own unique set of challenges. I don’t know about you—but I’ve become one of those women who will literally wear the same swimsuit year after year because I feel that I won’t be able to find anything better.

Until now.

This year marked the launch of Hermoza, an incredible, woman-owned swimwear company. Hermoza is a luxury, resort swimwear line that features classic swimwear, in timeless silhouettes with high-quality materials designed to meet the needs of the modern woman. So when Hermoza reached out to Verily to announce their launch, I was only too happy to sample and review their new lines for our readers.

Additionally, Hermoza is giving Verily readers 17 percent off a purchase (use the promo code VERILY at checkout to claim your discount). Why 17 percent off? Well, fun fact, founder Tiffany's husband is the quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers (Philip Rivers) and his jersey number is 17!

Founders Who Understand the Swimwear Challenge

Hermoza founders Marisa De Lecce and Tiffany Rivers felt there was a gap in the market between conservative brands that offered matronly, outdated options and fashionable swimwear that was too revealing and expensive. There seemed to be no alternative and like other female entrepreneurs, De Lecce and Rivers' saw a problem and decided to do something about it.

Hermoza was created from De Lecce and Rivers’ desire to find swimwear that is sophisticated and functional, something that would offer women the support and confidence they need to radiate on the outside who they are on the inside.

Blending Rivers’ Southern roots with De Lecce’s Latin background, the pair created a Spanish-and-Southern-inspired brand that is on a mission to provide heirloom quality construction at a reasonable price, making their suits accessible to any woman who desires elegance and function in their swimwear.

The Hermoza Woman

Eleanor-26

Hermoza is different from any swimwear line I’ve discovered, because of the way the suits emphasize dignity and elegance—think Grace Kelly in To Catch A Thief. Are you swooning yet? The Hermoza woman embodies an effortless luxury, she is confident in her beauty, timeless in her aesthetic, and she desires pieces that embody those values. The Hermoza woman is not afraid to be feminine or elegant. Instead, she is radiant, full of life, and full of beauty.

In fact, the word Hermoza is derived from the Spanish word, “Hermosa,” meaning “beautiful.” By blending together Latin sophistication with Southern class, De Lecce and Rivers have infused feminine charm into swim and resort wear. In all of their prints you can see and really feel the Southern femininity as well as the Latin influence in their vibrant colors and bold designs. Just try to tear yourself away from their Instagram—it’s an absolute eyeswoon.

The Beauty of Hermoza

In reviewing Hermoza’s lookbook, studying the brand, and the samples, I was absolutely blown away by what De Lecce and Rivers have created. The beautiful prints and modest cuts had me at hello, but it was the craftsmanship of their suits and their commitment to making "supportive" swimwear that really sold me. Prioritizing both sophistication and support is of absolute importance to me in any suit I decide to purchase.

When shopping for suits in the past it’s often seemed as if no one knows how to make a stylish swimsuit with support. I see so many swimsuits (made for women, not girls) in stores and online that would not work for anyone above an A cup; it's frustrating and not body inclusive. Not only that, but most of the modest swimsuits I encounter are painfully uninteresting and not very fashion-forward. Hard pass.

And yet, right where everyone else fails, Hermoza succeeds. Why?

The Genius of Hermoza

The genius of this resort swimwear line is their three fit collections: Shape, Movement, and Sculpt.

Each fit collection relies on a different type of fabrication and construction to achieve a particular fit in that suit.

The Eleanor

If you are someone who is looking for a swimsuit that provides a shapewear effect to slim and smooth, you may want to consider suits in the Shape collection. In fact, give the Eleanor a try. This is my favorite suit in the entire line, not just because of the gorgeous print and asymmetrical neckline, but the thick, shapewear-like feel of the fabric with its soft (removable cups) made me feel super supported.

The Marisa

Maybe you're more of an active beach-goer, and your trip to the ocean is filled with lots of fun and activity. You may want to choose a suit from their Movement line, like the Marisa, for example. Suits in the Movement collection like the Marisa are made with a luxurious, lightweight fabric that feels pretty much like a second skin. The Marisa also offers more of a sporty aesthetic: it has a boy cut leg that provides complete seat coverage, without seeming matronly.

The Genevieve

If you prefer a suit that has that same lightweight feel but in a more feminine silhouette, try the Genevieve!

The Gayle

The Sculpt collection offers suits that accentuate your natural shape with a soft yet compressive and durable fabric. I had the pleasure of trying the Gayle in red, and its timeless shape and design reminded me of those vintage swimsuits from the fifties we all love.

I also found that Gayle to be the perfect bodysuit to wear with cropped pants and sunnies, for an effortless beach to street transition.

I also love how their sarongs, which can also be used as cute scarves for your hair. Here I am wearing the Short Sarong Cover-Up in the Flos Carmeli print.

And on Hermoza’s website you can shop the entire look! If a model is wearing a certain pair of sunglasses or earrings, all of those accessories are available for you to purchase—making it a cinch to style a complete look. Here I’m wearing the Cuff Hoops in silver with my Marisa swimsuit.

The different fabrics used in each suit were so thoughtfully chosen; it showed me that Hermoza deeply understands the diversity of women’s bodies and their specific lifestyle needs. Most swimwear brands use the same fabrics across the line, relying only on different colors and patterns for variety. It’s not until you venture into more performance swimwear that you can find more technical fabrics and textile versatility.

Sophistication, versatility, support (and accessories!) in a swimwear line, designed by two powerhouse women, what is there not to love? Hermoza puts women first and the beauty is definitely in the details, with suits that promise style and deliver that timeless allure.

Rivers and De Lecce are big on collecting feedback to make their product even better, so follow them on Instagram or Facebook and share any fit issues or product questions you may have!
